Every person who seeks success should passionately seek new ideas every day, or expand on a new idea they are currently learning. A mind that does not seek new ideas regularly will grow narrow, stagnate, wither and finally close to anything new.
If you live in the city visit the country, if you live in the country visit the city; Live in the east travel west and vice-versa; expand your experience and seek new ideas regularly. The mind needs a change in its environment to open it to the possibilities, to make it more flexible at decision making, and develop it imagination.
Do not be afraid of new ideas, especially if the collide with the ones you currently have. Examine the new ideas and see how they differ from what you currently believe and if the new ideas are correct or the original ideas.
The one thing you must reframe from doing is forming opinions without definite FACTS to back it up, or denounce it. Never have contempt for an idea or person without knowing the facts and their background.
The one item that you have to rid yourself of before you can become passionate about seeking and learning new ideas is that of contempt. Contempt for a subject or a belief keeps the mind closed and passes judgment before the material is learned let along fact complied and studied.
Practice opening your mind by picking a subject that you have always had an opinion of but never any facts. Active and passionately seek knowledge about that subject and compile notes that both agree AND disagree with your current view points. Seek out examples that go against your beliefs and those that support your beliefs.
Seek out at least 5 sources each that prove and disprove your position, study them, take notes on the pro and cons, then when you are finished study your notes, read them at least 3 times making additional notes for both what you belief and what you disbelieve.
Now, using the notes that go against YOUR belief, try to convince yourself of the position opposite of the one you currently have, or at least accept the possibility that the opposing opinion is correct.
After you have finished the exercise just mentioned list all the subject you have an interest in and all those you believe you will need to know in order to succeed. Next list all these topic in order in which you believe they are important. Put a check mark next to those you feel comfortable with and highlight those that you need to learn more about.
From that list put a check by the topics you believe you currently have a preexisting opinion on; when you study those topics make sure you are especially careful to keep an open mind and look for the opinions that go against what you believe.
As you learn each new subject take notes and write articles on each area; the articles don’t have to be long, a page at most. To make the most of this create a blog and use your articles as posts on the blog and other websites. When you have enough material create a special report, then an eBook and finally a website dedicated to the selling of the material you now possess.
Make learning enjoyable and profitable. By keeping an open mind you’ll be able to notice even more opportunities in the areas you decide to study.
