How to Build more capacity and Unlock Your Brilliance in Your Business

“Nothing builds confidence like accomplishment” Thomas Carlyle.

One of the issues facing some of my clients is a shortage of self confidence. They are highly talented people who haven’t truly untapped their talent and let it fly for one reason or another. It is vital that they un-tap that talent and get their talent out there in their businesses.

What does confidence give us?

Confidence in ourselves, (I’m talking here about confidence in our Life Purpose, our Stand in life, our Values) is the key to expanding into our greater potential as individuals as well as in our businesses; that vehicle we have created as a channel of expression for our talents and as a channel for service. So we need confidence to step up and step out and truly serve the world.

Without an underlying, calm confidence, we would never get further than our own front door. We wouldn’t be getting our work out there to prospective clients; we wouldn’t be serving the world by bringing our light to it!! We wouldn’t be owning our value or taking our work seriously. And we certainly wouldn’t be in any position to step up, expand and improve what we do.

It is our responsibility as creative heart centred entrepreneurs to give birth to our form of creativity in the world and bring the light that it produces into the world. The world needs our talent, and it needs to be supported by a creative perspective in order to find inspired solutions to on-going issues.

If your self esteem is holding you back I’m sure it’s something you would like to change. Why? How is your life going to look without that perspective? How is your head-talk going to change without your constant every day negative rumblings? And most of all, how is your life going to transform when your self-esteem is lifted and you start getting into the inspired action you need to be in?

As the quote at the beginning of this article states, the only way to build confidence is through accomplishment.

How do we do this?

We do this by being in continuous, constant, focussed action which leads to accomplishment. This is an on-going process sometimes involving imperfect action. We learn to continuously act in spite of or because of perceived failures. And we learn that failure is really a gift showing you what you have to learn in order to succeed. This way, we get to savour the delicious taste of accomplishment over perfection. We forgive ourselves and keep going.

My coach’s request to you:

Let’s get to work on it so we move forward and unlock the door to the inspiration we each contain. Here are some exercises I’ve designed to get you started.

There is a whole world out there waiting for your brilliance so please don’t keep us waiting any longer. Take a deep breath and ask yourself, “What am I actually waiting for?”

“Our inner freedom…can transform an individual; allow him to nurture all his capacities and to live every moment of his life in utter fulfillment.” From “Happiness,” by Matthieu Ricard.

Want to Make More Money in Your Business?

Here is a simple tip on how to stop wasting money and resources.

Many businesses produce their products, have lots of work in progress and put finished goods in inventory. The company then waits for customers to order and procures those orders from inventory. What if there was a different way of doing this? What if you didn’t need all that work in progress, you could eliminate defects and you wouldn’t need all that inventory? There is a way to achieve this. Interested?

Every business exists by the graces of its customers. No exception. So why not listen to those very customers and produce only what they ask for when they ask for it? Think of your business as being a restaurant. Would you produce dishes and store them waiting for a customer to order one? Off course not. You wait for an order and then produce only that order, the way it was ordered. Your business is actually no different. Just because it may be a bit more complex doesn’t make it any different. If you waited for the customer to order and then made that order as specified, your whole production process would probably look completely different. Especially if you are using a typical batch production process.

You always want to ship as soon as you receive an order. Any time lag is a form of waste. So to achieve this, you either need infinite inventory or infinite production capacity and no one has either. So the next best thing is to use the resources you do have in the most efficient manner. This is where lean comes in. Rather than pushing batches of product through your plant, imagine pulling only those products you need through your plant. By pulling what is needed from workstation to workstation you achieve two important things. You do not build excessive work in process because only what is needed is being pulled and each workstation (customer) checks the quality of the work supplied by the workstation ahead in the manufacturing chain. This is a very important point. By having each workstation pull from the previous one only in the amount needed, quality can be assured every step of the way. Zero defects. You won’t have to wait until final assembly to find out a production run is out of spec. Or even worse, hear it from the customers after it has shipped!

Look at your manufacturing plant. Have your customer initiate a pull for product and use this pull philosophy for every task, handling or movement of products in your plant. Every work center has customers it supplies to; the next operation. Think about the restaurant business and stop making things that you don’t have a need for. You’ll be amazed at the money you’ll free up.
