Obstacles and Answers – The More You Know, the Less You Understand

Your story is your history of birth, growth and the experiences of life. Your life is determined by your intentions and events that come to you outside of your control. An event created by intention is a process of thought taking form by decisions and actions. For example, if you decide to build a bookshelf, it could be a simple board and block style or an elaborate wood design. The thought process of bringing the bookcase into being is the same either way.

What determines the difference is your decision about what type of bookshelf you want and your resources and skills in building. An event that you can’t control such as an illness or injury comes to you unexpected. However your reaction to the unexpected event is determined by your beliefs about it. Acceptance of an unexpected event is the key to not creating any additional negative beliefs about it. Any use of the “would, should, could or would” words only create a false sense of reality. Should accidents happen? Yes, because they do. With acceptance of reality comes peace of mind. Healing and rehabilitation can only come when the mind is at peace with the reality of the situation.

The ego wants control and unexpected events are considered outside the self, then there is no personal responsibility. It is common for the ego to identify with being a victim whenever something happens outside of itself. Think about your first reaction to an unexpected event, do you feel like you’re a victim? It is because the ego will not accept any connection for events outside of itself. Whenever anything happens to you unexpectedly, understand that by the fact of your participation it becomes part of your life experience.

A victim is a state of mind created by the ego to protect individuality. Acceptance of reality extends awareness and brings understanding that events are brought to you for a reason, no matter how they appear. All life events are your vehicle for raising consciousness in many different ways. When you can embrace life and celebrate all your experiences, you have moved to the state of understanding that life is perfect however it presents itself.

As awareness comes in, you can start to see the difference between ego thought and conscious thought. Ego thought starts to lose its importance and you start to identify more with awareness. Awareness allows you to connect with others on a level of unity rather than separation. Awareness is the bridge to the unified energy field that supports all life. Who would you be at this moment without any past to reference? This simple question can bring awareness to the front of consciousness. Whatever happens from this point forward is what you bring to it. The reality of what comes up is your path. It is what your thoughts bring to you. Every thought is an opportunity to connect with awareness. Examine your thoughts and ask if your thoughts are bringing more confusion or clarity, more separation or unity to your life.

If life is perfect, why bother asking questions about it? The search for awareness is a process in place for everyone on the planet because the flow of creative energy that under lays all life is forever expanding. It is a fundamental fact of life that all living things are born, grow, mature and decay. The process never reverses itself. People are not born old and grow younger each year. Humans are born without any prior knowledge of past lives in order to create the environment for exploration and seeking awareness in each life. Each life time is fertile ground for resolving stressful beliefs and cultivation of higher consciousness. Each generation has individual and collective beliefs to resolve, it is up to each individual to start the process. The opportunity for spiritual growth is always there behind every event in the experience of life.

If you perceive someone or something to be an obstacle, look closely at that thought. In truth there is no such thing, there is only your perception of the nature of the event. What appears to be obstacles are events that you think should be different than what they are. For example you have an idea about how to improve your job, an idea that would change the way your company does business. However your supervisors are not interested in changing anything, they are comfortable with the status quo. If you had the authority to affect change, you would create it; in this case you do not. So in order to be at peace with this situation, you can move away from it, surrender to it or speak up for change regardless of the opposition. When you can allow the experience to be as it is, you can be present with it. Only your belief about the experience creates any conflict. With awareness, you can see that any belief that causes stress can be resolved. Whatever belief you have that causes separation, stress or conflict is your opportunity to resolve that part of you that still believes in that stressful concept.

Your enemy is your teacher is another way to say that life shows you where your next lesson lies. The very thing that causes you the most stress is the strongest belief for you to resolve. There is nothing out there to oppose you in an any way. It is like the wind blowing through the trees, just energy expressing itself in many thousands of ways. When you attach a story to your beliefs, you are compounding your suffering. The fear of loss is behind most thoughts of conflict. These thoughts are created by the ego mind that cannot accept any sense of loss of self. When you can be grateful for all your life experiences, no matter how they appear, you are on the path to awareness. Ultimately reality is always better than the story you tell yourself about it. To see the world as it is and rejoice in it would be a love story. Life lives out itself just fine without your interpretation of it. Each life has its own journey, how can you deny each life its own expression? Let go of your attachment to the belief that you know what is best for anyone else. You can have compassion for those who are living an unconscious life. When you see self inflicted suffering, speak out if called upon to do so. When you live in awareness you become an example of how to live a conscious life in the flow of the ever present now.
