Quick verdict: Systeme.io is the better pick for creators, coaches and solopreneurs who want funnels, email and courses on a tight budget. GoHighLevel is the better pick for agencies and service businesses that need a powerful CRM, SMS follow-up and client sub-accounts.

If you are searching for systeme.io vs gohighlevel, you are probably trying to replace a messy stack of separate tools with one all-in-one marketing platform. Both tools promise exactly that, but they come from very different worlds. Systeme.io was built in France for people who sell their own knowledge and products online. GoHighLevel (now usually called HighLevel) was built in the US for marketing agencies that run campaigns for many clients at once.
In this comparison I look at real pricing in US dollars (with approximate euro figures), the features that actually matter day to day, GDPR and EU considerations, and finally who should choose which. Every price below comes from the official pricing pages of both companies, checked on 18 October 2026. Prices can change, so always confirm on the official sites before you buy.

Pricing Breakdown in $ and €
Price is where these two tools differ the most. Systeme.io charges based mainly on how many contacts you have. GoHighLevel charges based mainly on how many client accounts (sub-accounts) you manage, and then adds usage-based fees on top.
Systeme.io plans
Systeme.io has four plans. According to its pricing page:
- Free ($0): 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 blog, 1 course, 1 affiliate program and 1 custom domain, with unlimited emails sent. It never expires and does not need a credit card.
- Startup ($17/month, about €15): 5,000 contacts, 10 sales funnels and 5 courses.
- Webinar ($47/month, about €42): 10,000 contacts, 50 sales funnels, 20 courses, plus evergreen webinars.
- Unlimited ($97/month, about €86): unlimited contacts, funnels, courses and automation rules.
Every plan includes unlimited email sends, unlimited sub-accounts and 0% transaction fees. The pricing page also mentions “2 months free” on annual billing. The big advantage here is predictability: there are no SMS credits or AI usage meters to watch. If you want the full hands-on breakdown, read my Systeme.io review.
GoHighLevel plans and usage-based costs
GoHighLevel lists three self-serve plans plus a custom Enterprise plan:
- Agency Starter ($97/month or $970/year, about €86/month): 3 sub-accounts, unlimited contacts, unlimited users and 24/7 support.
- Agency Unlimited ($297/month or $2,970/year, about €264/month): everything in Starter plus unlimited sub-accounts, rebilling of phone and email at no markup, and basic API access.
- Agency Pro ($497/month or $4,970/year, about €442/month): everything in Unlimited plus SaaS Mode, automated sub-account creation, rebilling with your own markup and advanced API access.
The catch is the asterisk. HighLevel says usage-based charges apply for things like Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, email and SMS marketing, and calling. Its FAQ confirms costs for phone numbers, SMS, emails sent and premium AI usage. There are also optional add-ons, for example the AI Employee plans at $50 or $97 per month per sub-account, a branded client portal app at $49 per month per sub-account, dedicated email IPs at $59 per month, and HIPAA compliance at $297 per month. On Unlimited and Pro you can pass these costs on to clients, which is how agencies turn them into profit. My GoHighLevel review covers these costs in more detail.
Total cost for 3 example businesses
Here is how the base subscription works out for three typical businesses. I have left out usage fees because they depend entirely on how much you send.
- Course creator with 4,000 subscribers: Systeme.io Startup at $17/month (about €15). GoHighLevel Starter would be $97/month (about €86) before any email usage. Systeme.io saves roughly $960 a year here.
- Local marketing agency with 8 clients: Systeme.io could technically use sub-accounts, but it lacks SMS, calling and reputation tools that local clients expect. GoHighLevel Agency Unlimited at $297/month (about €264) covers all 8 clients, and you can rebill SMS and phone costs to them.
- Coach with 1,500 contacts who books calls: Systeme.io Free covers funnels, email, a course and a booking calendar at $0. GoHighLevel Starter at $97/month only makes sense if text-message reminders and a strong pipeline are central to how you sell.
Features Head-to-Head
Funnel and page builder
Both tools include a drag-and-drop funnel and website builder with templates. Systeme.io’s builder is simple and quick to learn, and it supports 1-click upsells, order bumps, A/B tests, deadline funnels and custom domains. GoHighLevel’s builder is more flexible and adds Funnel AI, but it also has more settings to learn. For a beginner launching a first sales page this weekend, Systeme.io usually feels faster.
Email marketing and automation
Systeme.io includes unlimited email sends on every plan, along with campaigns, newsletters, automation rules and visual workflows. That is excellent value for list builders. GoHighLevel offers email and SMS marketing plus a very deep workflow builder that can branch on almost any trigger, from a missed call to a form submission to a pipeline stage change. The trade-off is that GoHighLevel email is usage-based, so a large newsletter list adds cost.
CRM, SMS and booking
This is GoHighLevel’s home ground. It offers advanced CRM pipelines, custom dashboards, unified conversations (email, SMS and more in one inbox), inbound and outbound calling, booking calendars, online reputation management and a prospecting tool. Systeme.io has tags, CRM pipelines and a booking calendar, but no SMS or calling. If your sales process depends on texting leads within five minutes, GoHighLevel wins clearly.
Courses, memberships and communities
Both platforms host courses and communities. Systeme.io has been strong here for years, and even the free plan includes a course. GoHighLevel also includes courses and communities in its core features. For a pure course business, Systeme.io gives you more for less money, while GoHighLevel makes sense if courses are just one part of a bigger client offer.
Agency tools (sub-accounts, white-label, SaaS mode)
Interestingly, Systeme.io allows unlimited sub-accounts on every plan, and each one gets the same limits as your main plan. That is handy for running several brands. But it has no white-label or reseller features. GoHighLevel was designed for agencies: it lets you white-label the desktop web app with your own branding, and Agency Pro adds SaaS Mode, so you can sell the platform as your own software with automatic account creation and rebilling.
GDPR and EU Considerations
This section is general information, not legal advice. Speak to a qualified adviser about your specific situation.
Where your data lives (EU-based vs US-based vendor)
Systeme.io is a French company, so it operates inside the EU’s GDPR framework by default. GoHighLevel’s corporate headquarters is in Dallas, Texas. That does not make GoHighLevel unusable in Europe, but it does mean personal data of your EU contacts is likely handled by a US-based vendor, which adds paperwork for you as the data controller. For many EU solopreneurs, an EU-based vendor simply makes compliance conversations easier.
DPA, sub-processors and transfer mechanisms (SCCs / EU-US DPF)
Whichever tool you choose, ask for or accept the vendor’s Data Processing Agreement (DPA) and review its list of sub-processors. For transfers of personal data to the US, check whether the vendor relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF). Record this in your own privacy documentation. I have not quoted either company’s legal terms here, so check their current DPA and privacy pages directly.
Consent, double opt-in and cookie control on funnels
Under GDPR, you need a lawful basis for marketing emails, which usually means clear consent. Use an unticked consent checkbox on your opt-in forms, link to your privacy policy, and consider double opt-in so you have proof of consent. Both platforms let you build forms and automations, so the responsibility for setting them up correctly sits with you. Also make sure your funnel pages show a proper cookie banner if you load tracking pixels.
Selling to EU customers: VAT on digital products
If you sell digital products such as courses to consumers in the EU, VAT is generally charged at the rate of the customer’s country, not yours. Many sellers handle this through the EU’s One-Stop Shop (OSS) scheme or by using a payment provider that calculates VAT for them. Check how your chosen checkout and payment processor (Stripe, PayPal and others are supported by both tools) handle VAT before you launch.

When neither fits
If you mainly sell physical products in volume, a dedicated e-commerce platform may suit you better. If your whole business is high-ticket funnels and you want a funnel-first tool with a big template community, ClickFunnels is worth a look. See my Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels and GoHighLevel vs ClickFunnels comparisons before you decide.
My Verdict
For most readers of this blog, especially creators and small online businesses in Europe and the US, Systeme.io is the smarter starting point. It is free to begin, cheap to grow, EU-based and covers funnels, email, courses and a booking calendar without surprise usage fees. You can always move up later.
GoHighLevel is the stronger tool for agencies. Its CRM, SMS, calling, reputation management and white-label features are in a different league, and on the Unlimited or Pro plans it can become a profit centre rather than a cost. Just budget for usage fees and give yourself time to learn it.

FAQ
Is Systeme.io really free forever?
Yes. According to its pricing page, the free plan never expires and does not need a credit card. It includes 2,000 contacts, 3 sales funnels, 1 course and unlimited emails. Some features have low limits, such as 1 automation rule. Compare it with other options in my guide to the best free funnel builders.
Is GoHighLevel worth it for a solopreneur?
Only if you rely heavily on SMS, calls, pipelines and appointment reminders. At $97/month plus usage fees it costs much more than Systeme.io, so a solo course creator usually gets better value elsewhere. A solo service provider who closes deals by phone may find it worth the price.
Which is more GDPR-friendly for EU businesses?
Systeme.io is based in France, inside the EU, which makes it the simpler choice for many EU businesses. GoHighLevel is US-based, so you should check its DPA and data transfer mechanisms. In both cases, GDPR compliance also depends on how you set up consent and privacy notices.
Can I migrate from GoHighLevel to Systeme.io (or the other way)?
Yes. Contacts can be exported and imported as CSV files, but funnels, automations and courses usually need to be rebuilt. Systeme.io’s pricing page mentions free migration, so contact its support before you start.
Do either charge transaction fees?
Systeme.io states 0% transaction fees on all plans. GoHighLevel’s pricing page does not list a transaction fee, but it does charge usage fees for SMS, email, calls and AI features. Your payment processor (such as Stripe or PayPal) will charge its own fees with either tool.
